What is the Trading Online Voucher?

The Trading Online Voucher is an Irish government grant, run through your Local Enterprise Office, that helps small businesses start or grow their online trading. It can cover up to €2,500, given as 50% match funding, so on a typical €5,000 website your own cost comes down to around €2,500.

It is designed for the shops, cafés, salons, tradespeople and other small businesses that have little or no online presence yet. The process has a few steps, and a strict rule that approval must come before any spending, so we guide you through the whole thing and time the build around it.

How it works, step by step

From the first free check to the grant landing back in your account, here is exactly what happens and where we come in.

  1. 1

    Check your eligibility

It starts with a quick, free check. We look at your business against the criteria and tell you plainly whether you are likely to qualify, before you spend a cent or fill in a single form.

  2. 2

    Attend a short information session

Your Local Enterprise Office runs a free session, usually online, that you attend before you can apply. We tell you when the next one is and what to expect, so it is one less thing to figure out.

  3. 3

    Get your written quote

Your application needs at least one written quote. We prepare a clear, compliant quote built around what your business actually needs, ready to drop straight into your application.

  4. 4

    Submit your application

You apply to your Local Enterprise Office with your quote and a short business case. We help you pull it all together so it is not left sitting on your to-do list, and so it gives you the best chance of approval.

  5. 5

    Get approved

The Local Enterprise Office reviews and approves your voucher, worth up to €2,500. This is the important bit: approval has to come before any work begins, so nothing you spend is ever at risk.

  6. 6

    We build your website

Once your voucher is approved, we design and build your site around your content and photos, with online ordering or bookings added if you need them. Everything is set up to get you found on Google and recommended by AI.

  7. 7

Go live and claim your grant

Your website goes live. You pay for the work, then claim back up to half the cost (to a maximum of €2,500) from your Local Enterprise Office. We give you everything you need for the claim, so the money comes back to you without the hassle.

Who can apply?

You may be eligible if your business ticks these boxes. The final decision is always made by your Local Enterprise Office, and we will check where you stand for free.

  • Fewer than 10 employees
  • Turnover of less than €2 million
  • Trading for at least six months
  • Little or no existing online trading
  • Registered and trading in Ireland

What can it be used for?

The voucher is for developing your online trading. It cannot be used for ongoing running costs, so things like our monthly care plan sit outside the grant.

  • Building or upgrading a website
  • Adding online ordering, bookings or payments
  • Getting set up to trade and be found online

Trading Online Voucher FAQs

How much is the Trading Online Voucher worth?
The Trading Online Voucher is worth up to €2,500, given as 50% match funding. The grant covers half of an eligible project and you cover the other half. On a standard €5,000 website, that brings your own cost down to around €2,500.
Am I eligible for the Trading Online Voucher?
You may be eligible if you are a small Irish business, typically with fewer than 10 employees, turnover under €2 million, trading for at least six months, and with little or no existing online trading. The final decision is made by your Local Enterprise Office, and we will check where you stand for free before you spend anything.
Do I have to apply before starting the work?
Yes. Your voucher must be approved by your Local Enterprise Office before any work begins or any money is spent. We plan the whole project around your approval, so nothing you pay for is ever at risk.
Can you help me apply?
Yes. We check your eligibility, prepare a compliant written quote, and help you get your application ready, then build your website once you are approved. We are not affiliated with the Local Enterprise Office, but we will help you put your best application forward.
