About Pixel Forge

A local partner for getting your business online

Pixel Forge is a small web design studio based in Dublin, working with businesses right across Ireland. We build websites for the shops, cafés, salons, tradespeople and countless other small businesses that make up main streets around the country.

We focus on one thing: getting your business online in a way that actually brings in customers, without the jargon or the big agency price tag. We know the Trading Online Voucher inside out, so we can guide you through the grant, handle the paperwork, and build you a site that keeps working long after it goes live. Because we are small, you deal with the person doing the work.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Trading Online Voucher, getting online, and working with us, answered plainly.

What is the Trading Online Voucher?
The Trading Online Voucher is an Irish government grant, run through your Local Enterprise Office, that can cover up to €2,500 towards getting your business trading online. It's aimed at small businesses with little or no online presence yet, and it's designed to help you build or upgrade a website that lets customers find, buy from or book you online. You cover the other half of the cost, so on a typical €5,000 website your own outlay is around €2,500.
Am I eligible for the Trading Online Voucher?
You may be eligible if you're a small Irish business, typically with fewer than 10 employees, turnover under €2 million, trading for at least six months, and with little or no existing online trading. Most businesses that meet those criteria and are registered in Ireland can apply through their Local Enterprise Office. The final decision is always the LEO's, but we'll check where you stand for free before you spend anything, and help you put your best application forward.
How much is the Trading Online Voucher worth?
The Trading Online Voucher is worth up to €2,500, given as 50% match funding. The grant covers half of an eligible project and you cover the other half. On a standard €5,000 website, that brings your own cost down to roughly €2,500. In some cases a business that has already used a first voucher can apply for a second, again up to €2,500.
How do I apply for the Trading Online Voucher, and can you help?
You apply through your local Local Enterprise Office, usually after attending a short (often online) information session, by submitting an application with at least one written quote. We do the heavy lifting: we check your eligibility, prepare a compliant written quote, and help you get your application ready so it doesn't sit on your to-do list. The voucher has to be approved before any work begins, so we plan the build around your approval.
What can the Trading Online Voucher be used for?
It's for developing your online trading, most commonly building or upgrading a website with online ordering, bookings or payments, plus closely related digital costs. It can't be used for ongoing running costs, so things like our monthly website care plan sit outside the grant. If you're not sure whether what you have in mind qualifies, tell us and we'll let you know plainly.
How much does a website cost for a small business in Ireland?
A professional small-business website from us starts at €5,000, and if you're approved for the Trading Online Voucher up to €2,500 of that can be covered, bringing your own cost to around €2,500. That includes a mobile-first design, the pages you need, and everything set up so you can keep it updated. Ongoing care (updates, hosting, security and backups) is optional and separate, from €49 a month.
What if I already have a website?
You may still qualify. The Trading Online Voucher can fund upgrading an existing site to add online selling or bookings, as long as your current online trading is limited. If your site is simply out of date or not bringing in business, we can start with a free website health check and tell you honestly whether to improve it or rebuild, and whether the grant can help.
How long does it take to get my business online, including the grant?
From first call to live website is usually around 6 to 8 weeks: a week or two to sort your grant application and approval, then 4 to 6 weeks to design and build once your content and photos are ready. Because the Trading Online Voucher must be approved before any spend, we line the build up behind your approval so nothing is at risk. If you're in a hurry, tell us and we'll do what we can to move quickly.
Do I own my website?
Yes, your website is yours. Once it's built and paid for, you own the site and your domain, whether or not you stay on a care plan. If you ever decide to leave, we hand everything over and you keep it. We don't lock you in.
Do I need to be good with computers to run my website?
No. We build your site so the everyday things (updating prices, adding a product or changing your opening hours) are straightforward, and we'll show you how. If you'd rather not touch it at all, our monthly care plan means we make the changes for you, so you can get on with running your business.
What kinds of businesses do you work with?
All sorts of small Irish businesses: shops, cafés and delis, salons and barbers, tradespeople, clinics and therapists, studios and more. If your customers could find you, buy from you or book you online, we can help you get set up. The Trading Online Voucher is aimed at exactly these kinds of small businesses.
Where are you based, and do you work with businesses around Ireland?
We're based in Dublin and work with small businesses right across Ireland. Most of the process happens by phone, email and video call, so where you are is no barrier. We help businesses in towns and cities nationwide get online and apply for their Trading Online Voucher.
